Protecting the Interests of Marginalized Youth:

Educational Equity:

For years, the foundation has steadfastly supported marginalized youth through scholarship programs. Many of these young individuals have encountered discrimination within their families, with some facing the unfortunate circumstance of being disowned due to their authentic expressions of who they genuinely love. Recognizing their immense challenges, the McBern Foundation actively facilitates their access to education.

Through these scholarship programs, we aim to empower marginalized youth to pursue an education, enabling them to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge. This educational support opens doors to employment opportunities and catalyzes them to establish their businesses. By equipping them with the tools for education, the foundation endeavours to empower these individuals to chart a course toward financial independence, providing them with the means to overcome societal barriers and build a more promising future

Protecting the Interests of Marginalized Youth:

Employment/Skill Empowerment

The McBern Foundation is steadfast in its commitment to empowerment, collaborating with corporate entities and non-profit organizations to foster inclusive employment opportunities tailored for marginalized youth. Mentoring: Beyond vocational training, the foundation focuses on mentorship initiatives, carefully with people who have been successful despite their experiences of discrimination. Seasoned professionals from various industries are pivotal in guiding, advising, and inspiring these youth, fostering confidence, professional development, and overall employability. Through vocational training and mentorship, the foundation seeks to holistically enhance the skill sets of marginalized youth, providing tangible pathways for them to access and excel in the professional realm.

Addressing Discrimination

The McBern Foundation is dedicated to advocating the cause for diversity, equity and inclusion by actively supporting the implementation of DEI policies in workplaces and communities. Since we recognize the critical need for inclusive environments, we strive to cultivate spaces that acknowledge and celebrate diversity in all forms. Through our advocacy efforts, we work with stakeholders, organizations, and policymakers to influence the development and reinforcement of DEI. Though it is an uphill task in Uganda, we do not tire but keep the engagements.

In our pursuit of fostering inclusive spaces, we go beyond advocacy and actively provide a network of resources and support systems for individuals who have faced discrimination based on age, gender, and sexual orientation. We understand the profound impact discrimination can have on individuals, not just in the workplace but also in their day-to-day lives. Our network is designed to offer tangible support, guidance, and a sense of community for those who have experienced discrimination. We always aim to empower individuals to overcome challenges, foster resilience, and contribute to the collective effort of building environments that embrace diversity, equality, and respect for all.

Skills Training Initiatives:

Tailored Curriculum

This specialized curriculum, carefully designed for the Hub, will dive into subjects vital for entrepreneurial ventures, encompassing entrepreneurship principles, advanced business management strategies, and financial literacy.

Acknowledging the specific challenges marginalized individuals face, our curriculum surpasses traditional offerings. It will aim to empower learners with practical knowledge essential for entrepreneurial success. From foundational principles, the curriculum will create a holistic educational experience. Our goal is to cultivate a learning environment that imparts theoretical knowledge and emphasizes practical application, equipping marginalized individuals with the tools to navigate entrepreneurship. With this specialized curriculum, we seek to instill expertise and confidence, enabling individuals to overcome obstacles and succeed in business, ultimately contributing to their sustainable economic empowerment.

Hands-On Workshops

In our Innovative Skills Training Hub, we will upraise the learning experience by integrating hands-on workshops and practical sessions strategically designed to supplement theoretical knowledge. These experiential opportunities will provide a dynamic platform for participants to apply acquired skills in a controlled and supportive environment actively. Through carefully curated practical sessions mirroring real-world scenarios, individuals will bridge the gap between theory and application, gaining a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial and business management concepts. This approach will enhance their practical competencies and instill confidence, aiming to create a supportive learning environment that empowers individuals to confidently apply their skills in real-world entrepreneurial situations, contributing to their sustainable economic empowerment.

Current Goals

Health Camps: Bridging Healthcare Gaps

The mission of our Health Camps is rooted in the commitment to champion the right to better health and mitigate general diseases by fostering community healthcare initiatives. Despite Uganda’s celebration of its Golden Jubilee of independence a few years ago, providing basic healthcare facilities remains a pressing challenge, particularly in rural areas. This reality is acutely felt by the elderly population, which often lags in accessing essential health services.

Current Healthcare Challenges

Our overarching goal is to conduct one health camp per quarter. By strategically planning and executing these camps, we bridge the healthcare gap, ensuring they receive the necessary medical attention and care

operational plans

In its post-independence era, Uganda continues to grapple with providing primary healthcare services. This challenge is particularly pronounced in rural areas, where access to healthcare facilities is limited. Recognizing this significant gap, the McBern Foundation is poised to address the healthcare needs of the elderly, starting with organizing health camps in various villages in the Mukono district and subsequently expanding our reach to other parts of the country.

THE MCBERN

Expansion and Specialization:

As our resources grow, we aspire to evolve our health camps to include specialized teams of doctors, such as dentists, orthopedic specialists, and general healthcare professionals. This expansion aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services, addressing specific medical needs. The McBern Foundation is dedicated to significantly impacting the healthcare landscape for the beneficiaries through strategic and consistent health camps. We invite potential supporters and partners to join us in this endeavour to bring essential healthcare services to those who need it most, contributing to the well-being and dignity of the elderly in our communities.
